The elected governing body of the Student Government Association (SGA) is the senate, which is comprised of an executive council and senators representing part-time students, graduate students, and students from each of the four classes.

The SGA administers the student activity fee which funds leadership programs, student activities, the D'Youville calendar and resource guide, orientation, club events, and athletics. The senate meets twice a month and the meetings are open to all students.

There are four SGA committees composed of senators and members-at-large. Members-at-large are students who have not been elected to hold a particular position but who are active on these committees. All students are invited to become members-at-large and serve on a committee of their interest.

Student Government Association Committees

  • The Public Relations Committee is charged with the promotion of SGA and all special events sponsored by SGA. These events include: SGA Elections, Club Day, Caring Campaign, Community Cleanup, and more! The committee also assists in the management of SGA’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. If you are creative and enjoy marketing this committee will keep you engaged.

  • The Social Outreach Committee coordinates social media models such as Instagram and SharePoint and serves as a main point of contact for any students looking for more information regarding SGA.  This committee represents the SGA for college marketing and the communications department.  It's goal is to inform students about SGA and how we serve you! If you are interested in marketing and coordinating social media platforms join this committee!

  • The Student Action Committee serves as an advocate and voice for student concerns. The members of this committee are responsible for presenting problems and concerns brought forth by students and for investigating those concerns with the appropriate college personnel or SGA members. The committee surveys the student body on a regular basis to obtain opinions and feedback on matters which impact their college experience.

  • The Student Engagement Committee provides engagement opportunities in the areas of social, educational, recreational, sporting, and spirit events. It is comprised of 2-3 co-chair and committee members who are involved in making sure students are kept actively engaged throughout the academic year! This committee is also responsible for recommending recognition of student clubs, organizations, recreational athletic organizations, club and intramural sports, and also determining if recognition should continue.
