D’Youville University proudly announces that President Lorrie A. Clemo has been named to Buffalo Business First’s 2025 Power 200 Women list, recognizing her as one of the most influential women shaping Western New York’s educational, business, and civic landscape.

This prestigious honor reflects Dr. Clemo’s transformative leadership at D’Youville, where she has championed innovation in health sciences education, expanded community and neighborhood partnerships on the west side of Buffalo, and advanced initiatives that promote social mobility among D’Youville student and workforce development across the region.

Under her leadership, the university launched the Health Professions Hub that served more than 10,000 community patient visits for pharmacy, primary care, and physical therapy in 2024; achieved top rankings for its commitment to student success and outcomes; and is becoming a leader in Western New York for comprehensive education across all health science disciplines.

“I am deeply honored to be included among such inspiring women who are making a difference across our region,” said Dr. Clemo. “This recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of the D’Youville community—faculty, staff, students, and partners—who are dedicated to transforming lives through education, innovation, and service.”

Dr. Clemo has served as D’Youville’s 15th president since 2017, becoming the first layperson to lead the institution in its more than 100-year history. Her tenure has been marked by a bold vision to position D’Youville as a national model for interprofessional healthcare education and community engagement. She also serves on several regional and national boards, including Kaleida Health, the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, and the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities in New York.

The Power 200 Women list, published annually by Buffalo Business First, honors the region’s most influential women leaders across sectors including education, healthcare, business, and nonprofit work. Dr. Clemo’s inclusion highlights her significant contributions to higher education and her role in shaping the future of Buffalo’s workforce and well-being.
