Sister Donna DelSanto, '75 Visits D’Youville to Meet Scholarship Recipients

The D'Youville University Alumni and Advancement team welcomed Sr. Donna DelSanto, '75 Nursing, to campus on April 22 to meet recipients of the 2024-25 DelSanto Family Community Health Scholarship.
The scholarship, supporting nursing students in their junior or senior year who demonstrate a commitment to community service and are planning a career in community health, was established by anonymous donors in 2017 in honor of both Sr. Donna and her late sister, Diane DelSanto, '82 Education.
The DelSantos have a long history with D'Youville, both as stewards and as students. Sr. Donna, received a degree from D’Youville’s School of Nursing in 1975 and Diane received her degree in 1982 from D'Youville's School of Education.
Currently, Sr. Donna is the Campus Minister for Discernment and Vocation in the Center for Spirituality at Nazareth University in Rochester, New York. Previously, Sr. Donna served as a nurse for the Sisters of Saint Joseph for the Monroe County Jail, the coordinator for a homeless shelter in Rochester, and a volunteer at the Bethany House, a Catholic house of hospitality.
In 2017, Sister Donna received the Delta Sigma Award from the D'Youville Alumni Association for improving the quality of life of others through service. Diane was the recipient of the Delta Sigma Award in 2010 and had worked as a Buffalo Public School teacher until her death in January 2016.
Eight DelSanto Family Community Health scholars were chosen through an application process to receive the award for the 2024-25 academic year.
