Professor Gamble Named to Community Charter School Board

Buffalo, New York – November 26, 2012 – Dr. Robert J. Gamble, professor of graduate education at D'Youville College, has been approved by the State Education Department to serve on the Board of Directors at the Community Charter School on Edison Drive in Buffalo.

In addition to the general board, he will be working on the teacher/curriculum subcommittee, which deals with daily operation issues. The charter school offers grades kindergarten through sixth.

"I look forward to becoming more involved in our city schools and hope my early childhood and college teaching background will have a positive impact on the growth and progress of the students at Community Charter," he said. His appointment was effective November 19.

Dr. Gamble has been on the D'Youville faculty since January of 1991 and served in various positions including chair of the Department of Education, director: da Vinci High School/DYC Partnership, director of teacher certification, supervisor of student teachers, and a number of other faculty positions.

Dr. Gamble is well known for his talent in and love of tennis and has been the summer tennis director at Camp Robindel in New Hampshire since 1992. He is the tennis professional at Miller Tennis Center in Amherst and coached the D'Youville Men and Women's teams in 2009.

He earned his bachelor's and master's degree in elementary education at SUNY Fredonia and his Ph.D. at the University at Buffalo.
