Dean of Health Professions to Receive Award

Dr. Finney Selected as Recipient of Christus Super Omnia Distinguished Alumnae Award

Buffalo, New York – September 27, 2016 – Dr. Maureen F. Finney, dean of the D’Youville College School of Health Professions, has been selected as the recipient of the Christus Super Omnia Distinguished Alumnae Award from the Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart.

This special award “is given to alumnae who have distinguished themselves in their careers and/or civic and community activities; and exemplify the spirit and tradition of the academy.”

In announcing the honor Jennifer Demert, the head of the academy, said: “Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart is thrilled to recognize Maureen. The impact she is making in Western New York through her work at D’Youville makes us very proud. She embodies all we would hope for in our alumnae.”

“I am deeply honored and humbled by this award. I remain ever thankful to Sacred Heart for giving me such a strong foundation in the importance of service and leadership,” Dr. Finney said. “ I will continue to strive to uphold the values of my beloved alma mater.”

The award will be presented at the Christus Super Omnia Scholarship and Awards Dinner on November 3 at The Atrium at Rich’s.

Dr. Finney is a graduate of Niagara University and received her master’s degree in Natural Sciences from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She earned her Physician Assistant degree and doctorate in Health Policy and Education from D’Youville.

She joined D’Youville in 2000 and was named dean in 2015.

The Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart in Eggertsville is a private high school for young women founded in 1877.
