D’Youville University will celebrate its Fall Commencement on Tuesday, December 2, at 5:00 p.m. in the Saints Center on campus, honoring the achievements and hard work of the Class of 2025. The ceremony will mark a momentous occasion for graduates, their families, and the D’Youville community as we recognize their dedication, perseverance, and academic accomplishments.

Since 2024, Dawne Hoeg has been hosting weekly textile arts workshops for students sponsored by the D'Youville University Wellness Lodge.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Dawne Hoeg, founder and executive director of Stitch Buffalo, a nonprofit organization that empowers refugee women through textile artistry and entrepreneurship. Since founding Stitch Buffalo in 2014, Hoeg has created a welcoming space where women from Buffalo’s refugee community can learn, create, and earn income through the sale of their handcrafted goods. Her leadership has helped hundreds of women find independence and confidence through meaningful work. A passionate advocate for creativity, community, and purpose, Hoeg embodies the spirit of compassion and commitment that defines D’Youville’s mission. Her story is also a powerful reminder that one person can create a ripple effect of positive change, that a single courageous act or intentional choice can inspire others to act, building momentum that strengthens communities and transforms lives.

D’Youville will confer degrees to more than 200 students, with the largest groups representing the university’s nursing, physician assistant, and occupational therapy programs. The ceremony will once again feature D’Youville’s signature “My Dog Ate My Debt” program, where one lucky undergraduate will have their D’Youville student debt reimbursed by the university. Each eligible graduate will receive a lottery ball during the ceremony to place into a spinner on stage, and one winning ball will be drawn at the end of the event.
