D’Youville University announced today that students can now apply to the D’Youville University College of Osteopathic Medicine (DYU-COM), following the American Osteopathic Association’s Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation decision granting pre-accreditation earlier this month. DYU-COM is the first College of Osteopathic Medicine in Western New York and the region’s first new medical school in nearly two centuries.

Students interested in applying are encouraged to begin their application at www.dyu.edu/medicine. From there, applicants will be directed to the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (AACOMAS)—the national centralized application system used by all osteopathic medical schools in the United States.

DYU-COM will welcome its inaugural class of 90 students in fall 2026, growing to 180 students per class by 2028 and ultimately reaching 720 student physicians by 2031. The college will emphasize the osteopathic philosophy of whole-person care, with a curriculum that integrates early clinical experiences, interprofessional collaboration, and cultural competency. Nearly 50 clinical affiliation agreements with hospitals and healthcare providers across Western New York, Upstate New York, and New York City are already secured to ensure students receive robust clinical training opportunities.

The first year of instruction will take place on D’Youville’s main campus, with a planned move in fall 2027 to DYU-COM’s permanent home at 285 Delaware Avenue in downtown Buffalo, a state-of-the-art facility intentionally selected to keep the medical school in the heart of the city.
