Nik Wallenda To Walk High Wire at D’Youville

Buffalo, New York – June 10, 2021 – D’Youville is pleased to announce that world-famous Nik Wallenda will walk the high wire on its campus on Thursday, June 17, as part of the grand opening celebration of D’Youville’s Health Professions Hub.

Wallenda, known as “King of the High Wire,” is an American acrobat, aerialist, daredevil, high wire artist, and author. He is best known as the first person to walk an international wire over Niagara Falls on June 15, 2012, almost nine years to the day of the D’Youville event.

“Nik takes risks to find the limits of how far a person can go. Likewise, the Hub at D’Youville will push boundaries that drive health education and patient care to astonishing new heights. We are honored to have Nik here to share his energy, courage and passion with our neighbors and campus community,” President Lorrie Clemo commented.

In anticipation of his walk, Wallenda said, “I am honored to be part of the opening of this important new addition to the D’Youville campus, and also to the City of Buffalo.”

D’Youville’s newly constructed Health Professions Hub is designed to address several critical healthcare needs in the region, provide much needed primary care services to residents of the West Side, and offer a space where D’Youville students can gain essential clinical experience.

Additional details of the Wallenda visit, and activities surrounding the opening of the Hub, will be released in the coming days.
