DYC Physical Therapy Professor Honored

Buffalo, New York – March 01, 2017 – Dr. Pamela Bartlo, clinical associate professor in the D’Youville College Physical Therapy Department, was honored with the 2017 Merit Award from the Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Section of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) for her practice, service and contributions to the advancement and knowledge of the profession.

“We are grateful for all her service to the section including serving as the communications chair and for practicing cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy with utmost professionalism and expertise,” the citation stated.

Dr. Bartlo is an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) board-certified specialist in cardiopulmonary physical therapy, with seven years practicing at a Level I trauma center in both cardiopulmonary and adult neurological rehab.

“I am very honored to receive the Merit Award from the CV&P Section of the APTA. I am proud to be a member of such an outstanding professional organization and am grateful to be recognized by my esteemed colleagues,” Dr. Bartlo said. “I will continue to strive to provide quality care for my patients and to serve our organization to the best of my abilities.”

She was presented the award in San Antonio, Texas, February 17 in a special ceremony.

The American Physical Therapy Association is the official member organization of the profession in the U.S. representing more than 95,000 members. Its goal is to improve the health and quality of life of individuals in society by advancing PT practice, education, and research.

Each year the APTA honors outstanding achievements on the part of its members in the area of overall accomplishment, education, practice and service, publications, research, and academic excellence.

A graduate of Daemen College, Dr. Bartlo received her doctorate in physical therapy from D’Youville College. She joined the College in 2004 after serving as an adjunct faculty member. She was a physical therapist at the Erie County Medical Center and Kenmore Mercy Hospital prior to coming to D’Youville.

She is on the board of directors for the APTA Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section.

Dr. Bartlo also serves on the St. Stephen’s School advisory board and is the head coach for the school swim team. She is also a troop leader for the Girl Scouts.
