D’Youville University Welcomes Three New Members to the Board of Trustees

Welcome DYU Board of Trustees Members: Jamel Perkins, Stephen M. Mercurio, and John Moore

D’Youville University proudly announces the appointment of three distinguished leaders to its Board of Trustees. Beginning their three-year terms on June 1, 2025, Jamel Perkins, Stephen M. Mercurio, and John Moore bring a wealth of experience and dedication to the university’s mission of innovation, service, and academic excellence.

Jamel Perkins
Global Technology Executive, Sodexo

Jamel Perkins, a visionary technology leader with a reputation for driving transformative change, rejoins the Board with deep institutional knowledge and a renewed commitment to D’Youville’s future. As Global Technology Executive at Sodexo, a world leader in quality-of-life services, Perkins leads strategic initiatives that impact over 75 million customers across 80+ countries. His career has spanned roles as Chief Information Officer and executive leader in IT and management.

An alumnus of Canisius University, Perkins holds an MBA in Marketing and International Business, an MS in Telecommunications Management, and a BS in Management Information Systems and Finance. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Canisius since 2009. From 2011 to 2024, Perkins was a member of D’Youville’s Board of Trustees, including serving as a Board Officer from 2017 to 2024. His tenure included leadership through the COVID-19 pandemic and significant contributions to governance and finance initiatives.

Stephen M. Mercurio
Former CEO, The McGuire Group

Stephen M. Mercurio brings over four decades of healthcare leadership to his new term on the D’Youville Board. A D’Youville nursing alumnus, Mercurio began his career as a registered nurse before transitioning into healthcare administration. As CEO of The McGuire Group, he led operations across six skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities, overseeing care for over 1,100 residents and a workforce of 2,100.

A long-time former D’Youville Trustee (2015-2024) and Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee, Mercurio has played a significant role in shaping academic strategy at D’Youville. He holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University at Buffalo and recently returned to Buffalo after residing in Florida. His extensive experience in patient care, executive leadership, and academic governance will be instrumental in D’Youville’s continued growth.

John Moore
Associate Vice President of Facilities Management Services, Rochester Institute of Technology (retired)

John Moore joins the Board after a distinguished career in higher education facilities management. A 1988 graduate of RIT in Mechanical Engineering, Moore has led campus transformation projects across more than 1,300 acres at RIT and its global campuses. His leadership brought to fruition over $250 million in active construction projects, including the acclaimed Gene Polisseni Center and the SHED.

Moore, a former executive at IBM and the New York Power Authority, managed a team of over 230 with a “People First” philosophy that cultivated collaboration and empowerment. Now retired from RIT, he looks forward to giving back to the higher education community through service on D’Youville’s Board.
