Physician Assistant Chair to Present Results of her Major Study at International Conference

Buffalo, New York – May 24, 2012 – Dr. Maureen F. Finney, chair of the D'Youville Physician Assistant Department, will present a major paper at the American Academy of Physician Assistants 40th Annual Continuing Medical Education Conference in Toronto May 26 – May 31, 2012.

She will speak on a national study she conducted last year titled "The Female Athlete Triad: Physician Assistant Knowledge and Implications for Clinical Practice."

With the increase in female participation is sports the incidence of a triad of disorders, the so-called female athlete triad, has also increased, according to Medscape Reference. "The components of the female athlete triad…consisted of disordered eating, amenorrhea, and osteoporosis."

Dr. Finney is a graduate of D'Youville's physician assistant program, earned her master's degree at the State University at Buffalo and her doctorate in Health Education and Policy at D'Youville.
