D'Youville Nursing Alumna Receives 'Nonprofit Leadership Award'

Buffalo, New York – September 26, 2012 – Joyce Markiewicz, president and CEO of Catholic Health Home Care and a D'Youville nursing alumna, received the Nonprofit Leadership Award at the Women of Influence luncheon held on September 20, 2012 at Salvatore's Italian Gardens.

She, along with Sister Denise A. Roche, D'Youville president and Cory Shaffer, D'Youville nursing alumna and president of Mobile Primary Care, Inc., were honored for their many accomplishments.

Joyce oversees multiple home care agencies, home health related services and an independent living program. They include: McAuley Seton Home Care, Sisters Long Term Home Health Care, Mercy Home Care, Catholic Health Infusion Pharmacy, Catholic Health Long term Pharmacy, Living Independently for Elders and Catholic Health Home Respiratory Services.

These programs and services provide a comprehensive continuum of care providing more than 175,000 patient visits annually, according to Catholic Health Home Care.

She is a member of the Board of Directors of Catholic Health Continuing Care Division and Foundation and Health Home Partners of Western New York. Joyce is a mentor at the University at Buffalo and a member of the UB School of Management Alumni Association. She was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce.

A 1980 nursing graduate of D'Youville, Joyce earned her MBA from the University at Buffalo.
