D’Youville Student/Veteran Awarded Scholarship

Buffalo, New York – May 22, 2012 – D'Youville student and Army veteran, Tradena Rayner, was awarded a Student Veterans of America Internship Support Scholarship, the first ever at D'Youville and one of only ten awarded nationwide.

Rayner is a 4th year student in the dietetics program at D'Youville and will graduate in December 2012 with both her bachelor's and master's degrees. She has been on the Dean's List for five straight semesters and has carried a 3.5 Grade Point Average.

The scholarship will pay $500 monthly for up to three months while she completes her unpaid internship.

The Student Veterans of American Association is a coalition of student veterans groups on college campuses across the world and provides military veterans with the resources, support, and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education and after graduation.

"Tradena is an outstanding representative of all the positives that one associates with the student-veterans enrolled at D'Youville," said Ben Randle, director of veteran's affairs at the college. "These include maturity, intelligence, integrity, self-motivation, organization and dedication."

Rayner is a member of D'Youville's Honor Society and a VA Work Study Student. She is currently studying abroad in England.
