D’Youville to Honor Two Local Health Care Leaders

Buffalo, New York – January 10, 2012 – D'Youville College will honor two local healthcare professionals at its 17th annual Achievement in Health Care Awards Dinner on Thursday, February 23 at Salvatore's Italian Gardens, 6461 Transit Road, Depew, N.Y.

Honorees are Dr. Kunle Odunsi, chairman of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology and Director of the Center for Immunotherapy at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Dr. Teresa Quattrin, University at Buffalo Distinguished Professor, chair of the Department of Pediatrics at UB and pediatrician-in-chief and chief, Division of Diabetes/Endocrinology at Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo/Kaleida Health.

A world-respected researcher, Dr. Odunsi and his research team continues their longtime research in epithelial ovarian cancer with encouraging results including significant delays in disease recurrence and in some cases remission.

He is a graduate of the University of Ile in Nigeria and completed postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology at the Rosie Maternity and Addenbrooke's Hospital at the University of Cambridge. He earned his doctorate at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund Laboratories at the University of Oxford and completed his residency at the Yale University School of Medicine.

Dr. Odunsi is a professor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the State University at Buffalo and Director of the U.S. Cancer Vaccine Collaborative Program.

Dr. Teresa Quattrin is a magna cum laude graduate of the medical school at the Università di Napoli Facolta di Medicina e Chirugia and completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Naples.

She is one of the nation's leading experts on Type 1 Diabetes, specializing in pediatric diabetes and pediatric endocrinology. Dr. Quattrin received a fellowship in Pediatric endocrinology at the State University at Buffalo where she completed her residency.

She served as chair of the Seneca Diabetes Foundation at Women & Children's Hospital and is listed in Best Doctors in America.

The dinner starts at 6:00 p.m.
