D’Youville Athlete Sweeps Both Academic and Athletic Awards

Buffalo, New York – June 3, 2012 – D’Youville graduate, Jordan Vokes, (Class of 2012) has been selected as the 2012 male recipient of the Faculty Athletic Representative Award by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC).

The announcement was made as the AMCC announced their 2012 All-Academic Team of standout scholar-athletes.

Vokes excelled for the D’Youville baseball team appearing in all 113 contests during his four-year career as both an infielder and pitcher, and was named team MVP while setting the school record for hits (92). He was a four-time Academic All-Conference selection and a three-time recipient of the D’Youville Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.

A biology major with a minor in childhood nutrition and a 4.0 Grade Point Average, Vokes gave the salutatory address at D’Youville’s commencement in May and received the D’Youville Medal, the highest award attainable by an undergraduate.

“I am extremely proud of all that Jordan has accomplished in his time at D’Youville. He is a very special young man who has been a wonderful leader for our program and a role model for his teammates, says Leo Dandes, head baseball coach at the college. “I know that Jordan will continue to exceed expectations as he enters medical school and as he realizes his ambition to become a doctor.”

Vokes is a native of Caledonia, N.Y. and attended Caledonia-Mumford Central High School.
