Walter Sisto, PhD

Biography

Dr. Walter N. Sisto is a Professor of Religious Studies and Catholic theologian at D'Youville University in Buffalo, New York. He received his Ph.D. in Sytematic Theology from the University of St. Michael's College in Toronto in 2013. His expertise is in the theology of Sergius Bulgakov, and his research focuses on engaging Bulgakov's Sophiology with contemporary issues and explicating Bulgakov's thought. He has published over a dozen peer-reviewed articles on Bulgakov, and his 2017 book on Bulgakov's Mariology was published by Routledge and currently under contract writing his second book on this topic. He is also interested in how religion influences end-of-life choices, and has published two books on this topic, many articles, and received research grants to develop related courses.
