President of BCPA Inaugurates DYC Grand Rounds Series

Buffalo, New York – November 28, 2012 – On Nov. 28, the D'Youville School of Health Professions welcomed Robert Gatewood, MD, President of Buffalo Cardiology and Pulmonary Associates, to campus to open the 2012-2013 Grand Rounds Series.

Over 60 D'Youville faculty, staff and students attended the lecture, held in the D'Youville Academic Center. The Grand Rounds Series explores the theme of interprofessional collaboration in healthcare.

Dr. Gatewood's presentation discussed the BCPA's "Get Healthy Program." This is a medically directed wellness approach to patient care, appropriate for moderate to high risk patients. The "Get Healthy Program" utilizes experts in medical care, nutrition, stress management, physical therapy, and personal training to guide patients toward meeting their goals and achieving a healthier lifestyle.

A recipient of awards from a variety of organizations, Dr. Gatewood has published numerous articles, authored over 50 presentations, and co-authored two books. In addition to serving as president of BCPA, he is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Gatewood also holds a position at Kaleida Health as Chief of Cardiology and has been instrumental in the development of the Gates Vascular Institute.

Buffalo Cardiology and Pulmonary Associates was established in 1975 and provides services including disease prevention, advanced diagnostics, cardiac and pulmonary disease management, interventional cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, sleep studies and nuclear medicine.
