D’Youville Appoints Interim Vice President for Enrollment

Buffalo, New York – September 17th, 2021 – William Kraus, a Buffalo native and admissions expert, has been named interim vice president for enrollment management at D’Youville while the university conducts a nationwide search to fill the position permanently.

“We are thrilled that Bill Kraus has agreed to join us as interim vice president to lead our efforts in this transition period,” says D’Youville President Lorrie A. Clemo, PhD. “His many years of experience, history of success, and knowledge about Western New York higher education are certain to serve D’Youville well.”

Kraus, a graduate of Canisius College and the University at Buffalo, began his enrollment career at Daemen College as an admissions counselor and assistant director of admissions. After admissions positions at Cayuga Community College in Auburn, New York, and Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio, Kraus returned to Western New York as associate vice president for enrollment management at Buffalo State College, where he oversaw a 13% increase in first-year enrollment, coupled with an increase in enrollees’ SAT scores.

He followed Buffalo State with positions as associate vice president for strategic enrollment and associate provost for enrollment management at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, along with a return to Lakeland Community College as their associate provost for enrollment management. Most recently, he served as an enrollment management consultant at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland, after acting as their interim director of admissions in 2020.

The Office of Enrollment Management at D’Youville is a newly structured department that includes recruitment, admissions, financial aid, and marketing. As interim vice president, Kraus will be responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive enrollment ecosystem, data-driven marketing and communications strategy, national recruitment strategies, financial aid packaging, and the development of robust external partnerships.
