D’Youville President Lorrie Clemo Elected to NCAA Division II Executive Board
Clemo will represent the East Region as D’Youville continues to build its NCAA Division II athletics program
D’Youville University President Lorrie Clemo has been elected to the NCAA Division II Executive Board, a national leadership position that will allow her to help shape the future of collegiate athletics while representing institutions throughout the East Region.
The appointment marks a milestone for D’Youville, which transitioned to NCAA Division II in 2023. Just three years later, President Clemo will have a voice in decisions affecting nearly 300 Division II colleges and universities nationwide.
The term begins in October 2026 and will run through January 2029. She will be eligible for re-election to an additional two-year term.
“I am honored to represent the East Region and serve alongside colleagues who share a commitment to the success and well-being of our student-athletes,” said Clemo. “At D’Youville, we've seen firsthand the opportunities that Division II athletics creates for students, both in competition and throughout their educational experience. I'm excited to contribute to the continued growth of Division II while helping ensure that academic achievement, athletic excellence and personal development remain central to the student-athlete experience.”
Since joining Division II, D’Youville has more than doubled the number of student-athletes competing in its athletics program, growing from 178 to 400 in 2026. D’Youville now offers 23 varsity sports, providing more opportunities for students to compete at the collegiate level while pursuing their academic and career goals.
The NCAA Division II Executive Board provides strategic leadership and oversight for the division, helping establish long-term priorities and guide decisions affecting member institutions and student-athletes. Its responsibilities include financial planning, championship administration, legislative matters and the development of policies that support Division II athletics.
Among the board's current priorities are expanding championship participation opportunities, enhancing the student-athlete experience and strengthening the connection between athletics and higher education. The board recently approved nearly $4.2 million in championship enhancements for the 2027–2030 budget cycle, including expanded championship fields, increased travel opportunities for student-athletes and improvements to championship administration.
As the East Region representative, Clemo will help guide decisions that shape the future of Division II athletics while supporting opportunities for student-athletes to succeed in competition, in the classroom and beyond graduation.
