New Era Cap Foundation Partners with D’Youville University to support College of Medicine
The New Era Cap Foundation has committed $250,000 to support the development of D’Youville University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, reinforcing a shared commitment to strengthening healthcare access across Buffalo and Western New York.
The investment will help advance a program designed to address regional physician shortages, with a focus on training doctors to serve both urban and rural medically underserved communities. D’Youville’s inaugural medical school class will begin in August 2026.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting initiatives that create a meaningful and lasting impact in the communities we serve,” said Danielle Koch, Executive Director of the New Era Cap Foundation. “D’Youville’s vision for training physicians aligns closely with our focus on education, health, and community development, and we’re proud to support a program that will make a difference where it’s needed most.”
Both organizations, with deep ties to Buffalo, share a long-standing commitment to investing in the people and institutions that strengthen the region.
The New Era Cap Foundation, established in 2016 as the philanthropic arm of New Era®, has a long history of supporting initiatives that benefit families and communities across Western New York.
“The New Era Cap Foundation and D’Youville University are strongly rooted in the spirit and resilience of Buffalo, and this partnership reflects our shared belief in investing in the health and future of our community,” said President Lorrie Clemo. “With the support of the New Era Cap Foundation, we are building a medical school that will not only educate the next generation of physicians, but it will also strengthen access to care for all of Western New York.”
D’Youville University has become a leader in Western New York for training healthcare professionals in virtually all disciplines, including nursing, physical therapy, chiropractic, pharmacy, nutrition, medicine, and more. Additionally, a strong majority of D’Youville students and alumni call Western New York home.
“We are grateful for the New Era Cap Foundation’s investment in the mission of D’Youville University,” said Britt Davis, Vice President for Advancement. “This support helps us build a medical school focused on training primary care physicians who will serve with compassion and help meet critical healthcare needs in our region.”
