D’Youville University is expanding opportunities for students interested in health careers with the launch of its new Bachelor of Science in Health Science program. Designed to provide a strong academic foundation in both the physical and social sciences, the program prepares students to understand and address today’s most pressing public and community health challenges while building the skills needed for careers across the healthcare field.

Built on the nationally recognized Public Health Foundation’s Core Competencies, the program emphasizes critical thinking, scientific inquiry, communication, and ethical decision-making. Students develop a broad understanding of health equity, social policy, and research methods while learning how to analyze health issues affecting communities and design evidence-informed solutions. Through this interdisciplinary approach, graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in public health, community health, and health promotion, while also gaining the academic preparation needed for advanced study.

The program is intentionally designed as a pathway to graduate-level health professions, making it an ideal choice for students interested in fields such as osteopathic medicine, chiropractic, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or physician assistant studies. Because D’Youville already offers many of these advanced programs, students benefit from early exposure to the university’s health sciences environment and the opportunity to plan a clear academic pathway toward their professional goals.

Students may also have the opportunity to complete the degree in as little as three years, allowing them to enter the workforce or graduate school sooner while reducing overall tuition costs. With its strong emphasis on community health, scientific training, and professional preparation, the Bachelor of Science in Health Science program reflects D’Youville’s mission to prepare graduates for lives of service, leadership, and meaningful impact in healthcare.
