John Robert "Bob" Tyler, DO

Biography

Dr. Tyler has attended medical school in Tulsa, OK at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He graduated in 1996 and moved to complete scholarship obligations with the US Army at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX where he completed his Internal Medicine residency.  

After residency, he moved to Colorado Springs, CO where he practiced traditional Internal Medicine. In 2013, Dr. Tyler moved to his hometown of Joplin, MO to be closer to his aging parents. While there, he practiced mainly hospital medicine with additional work in primary care, palliative medicine, and hospice.  

Dr. Tyler has obtained his Master of Science degree in Medical Education Leadership with a passionate interest in curriculum development and implementation. His present role with D’Youville University is as Associate Professor with the OMM and Clinical Medicine departments.  

Personal hobbies are photography, being outdoors, and hanging out with his two little dogs, Sammy and Sophie. Dr. Tyler is excited for snow storms and really cold weather!
