John Baker, Ph.D., Clinical Associate Professor, has taught undergraduate and graduate psychology students and provided clinical supervision for graduate psychology and social work students. In addition to courses in psychology, his teaching experience includes courses and modules in neurobiology, neuropsychology, statistics, research methods, and patient communication. He currently teaches courses in psychometrics, ethics, and case-based inquiry learning.
Dr. Baker has clinical experience at Rancho Los Amigos/USC National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, California, as the psychologist for the UBMD Concussion Management Clinic, at the UB Student Counseling Center, in the Rehabilitation Medicine Department at ECMC, and in private practice in Amherst.
He is certified in both Clinical Health Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology, and is an adjunct faculty member in the Psychology Department and a volunteer faculty member in the Medical School at the University at Buffalo.
He has research training in health-related quality of life outcomes, and his scholarly activities include research experience in assessment, intervention outcomes, the social determinants of health, cerebrovascular disease, and recovery from concussion. He has provided research supervision to graduate psychology students and other students, served on thesis and dissertation committees, and has authored and coauthored numerous papers with federal and non-federal grant funding. He is a member of the Psychological Association of Western New York.
