Brian Panama, PhD, serves as Director of Research at the D'Youville University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he leads the design and growth of the college's research enterprise across clinical, osteopathic, and foundational science domains. With over 25 years of research experience spanning cardiovascular and respiratory physiology as well as cellular electrophysiology, he brings a translational perspective that bridges bench discovery and clinical application.
Dr. Panama earned his PhD in Molecular and Integrative Physiology from the University of Michigan. Dr. Panama's research has focused on cardiovascular physiology, iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes, and ion channel electrophysiology, including advanced techniques, such as dynamic patch clamp. Prior to joining D'Youville, he held a research appointment at the University at Buffalo.
At DYU-COM, he is committed to building a sustainable, multidisciplinary research infrastructure that engages faculty and medical students alike and strengthens the college's regional partnerships in biomedical and community health research.
